Elevated Interview – Brian Meiggs

One of the biggest problems young people face today is money management. Suddenly you’re working now and have all this money, but what do you do with it? Do you buy a flashy new car and some expensive clothes, or do you invest it and save for later? There’s really no right or wrong answer.

Brian Meiggs, however, saw this as a perfect opportunity to assist young adults who needed some guidance with their finances. We interviewed Brian and got his thoughts on some of the challenges millennials face as they enter the world of business.

Name: Brian Meiggs @ www.millennialmoneyguide.com

Current Occupation: Founder of Millennial Money Guide

Tell us a little about yourself and what you do for a living.

I’m the founder of Millennial Money Guide (www.millennialmoneyguide.com). I launched Millennial Money Guide in order to share my experience and knowledge in finance and entrepreneurship. I teach others how to balance finances with living a great life now and preparing for the future through entrepreneurial ventures and fiscally smart decision making.

What inspired you to chase your dreams?

After a mentor of mine told me this, “Don’t work 8 hours for a company then go home and not work on your own goals. You’re not tired, you are uninspired.”

So far, what would you say your greatest achievement is?

Running a successful website and the notoriety it has received. I have recently joined the AOL Finance team and am now a contributor on AOL. Creating Millennial Money Guide will pay dividends for years to come.

When faced with a challenge or setback, how do you motivate yourself to keep going?

I stop thinking in terms of fear and define my goals and ways to achieve them. If you do not have any goals then you are not going anywhere. An easy way to get things done is by creating a to-do list and just start by completing one thing at a time.

Any advice to give to our followers?

Anything you set your mind to is possible. There is only one that is impossible and that is to beat a man that never gives up. Sharpen your eyes, and tune out the critics outside and the critics inside. Prove to yourself that you can get things done and accomplish your life goals.  You need to have confidence that you can chase your dreams and accomplish your goals and become successful. Take risks. The worst thing you can do in your career or life is to play it safe. Start TODAY, not tomorrow.
